1. If you really care about how you look, and we are sure you do since you are reading this blog (thanks for that by the way :)), then prior to making a jacket purchase, make sure that you have a flick through a couple of fashion magazines or browse through our style inspiration page. This is because you are going to want to keep up to date with the latest trends in the world of men’s fashion jackets. Yes, you might, most likely, end up paying a little more for men’s summer jackets that are in fashion at the moment, but you WILL end up turning a whole lot of heads. Plus, if you pick your jacket well – it should transcend trend status and keep your wardrobe company for a long time to come.
2. If you are going to go down the route of a designer jacket, and we really suggest you do if you want a quality product, then make sure that the company you are purchasing from is actually reputable. As you can probably guess, there are a lot of companies out there who sell fake gear. This fake gear may look the part, but it is not going to have all that much in terms of quality and it will, most likely, end up breaking/ripping/tearing before the summer is out.
3. Think about the clothing that you wear at the moment. You are going to want to purchase a men’s summer jacket to suit. We can’t count the amount of times that we have seen men walking around in a denim jacket during the summer. Now, this is all well and good in some cases, but, if you match up that denim jacket with denim jeans and you DON’T get the shades right, the look just doesn’t work. In terms of colour, we suggest that you purchase something neutral i.e. blues or greys. They tend to tie in well with just about everything that you could possibly own in your wardrobe…well not everything but you know what we mean…don’t hold us to that! 🙂
4. Make sure that the material is suitable for where you live. Now, there are some places where it can get drastically hot during the summer months. In these cases, you will want lightweight materials that can actually breathe. If you live in a place where it can get a bit snippy out, even during the warmer months, then opt for a slightly thicker men’s summer jacket.
5. Finally, make sure you try on the jacket before you actually purchase it if you can. A men’s summer jacket should not be baggy at all (despite some men out there believing this). A good summer jacket will hug your figure well without being too tight.
