Making a Difference – Tommy John Teams Up with the TCF

By  |

Okay so guys – this month is Testicular Cancer awareness month. It’s that time of the year when you can expect to start seeing moustaches galore all over the world, even amongst us men that prefer that clean shaven look.

Some quick stats…

About 1 in every 263 males will develop testicular cancer at some point during his life. The average age at the time of diagnosis of testicular cancer is about 33. Whilst it is largely a disease of young and middle-aged men, about 7% of cases occur in children and teens, and about 7% occur in men over the age of 55. Because testicular cancer can usually be treated successfully, a man’s lifetime risk of dying from this cancer is very low: about 1 in 5,000.

Even so, men who are affected really need the caring support of charities such as the TCF to give them the best possible chance of working through such a stressful time.

TCF

The Testicular Cancer Foundation (TCF) provides education to raise awareness about testicular cancer – the most commonly diagnosed cancer among males ages 15 – 35. They support families of testicular cancer patients and share their resources with medical and healthcare communities, schools and various young men’s groups.

Our friends at TommyJohn.com have decided to dive right in and show their support. Tommy John are retailers of high quality underwear for men, and are helping the TCF to raise more awareness and money for the cause.

Here’s news of their “Share a pair, win a pair” contest on Instagram – something we can all get involved in. To enter the competition, simply take a picture of any pair of round objects, tag them with #SupportYourBalls and follow @TommyJohnWear and @TesticularCancerFoundation. When you do this, you’re in with a chance to win a pair of underwear from Tommy John. Easy huh? It’s free for you to enter, and for each entry Tommy John are also donating $1 to the charity, up to $1000. The more people do this, the more the charity will benefit both financially and in terms of a raised profile. It’s a fun competition, with a serious underlying intention to help those men who really need it.

Oh and besides the $1 contribution for each entry, they are also donating 5% of all sales coming from their limited edition “Stache” and “Ball” print products, and $10 for each purchase made by new customers who were referred by someone else. You can win some great Tommy John underwear through the competition, plus – it’s a great cause so whip out your phones and get snapping! 🙂

With the right support, the disease can be beaten by the majority of sufferers. Let’s all do what little we can to empower the TCF so they can help even more men and families who are struggling to deal with testicular cancer.
