Casual Men’s Fashion: Getting It Right.
Sure, a suit looks brilliant on you. However, odds are you are not going to wear one day in, day out and if you haven’t picked the right one, it can be pretty uncomfortable. Also, suits are not suitable for every situation. This is where casual men’s fashion comes into play.
Casual Men’s Fashion: What is it?
Casual men’s fashion really encompasses fashion and style trends for those people who still want to look brilliant but do not wish to dress up in incredibly “smart” attire. There is no real definition beyond this. Of course, styles are constantly changing so what is considered casual can vary from time to time. Generally speaking though, casual fashion is for just about any situation which does not demand formal wear. We are going to take a little look at a few bits and pieces that you can use to kit out your wardrobe for decent casual men’s fashion choices.
Varying your wardrobe
It is fair to say that you own at least a few pairs of jeans, maybe a t-shirt or two, and some sneakers to cap it all off. This is fine. You will, potentially, look good wearing that. However, you are not really going to wow the crowd. If you really wish to grasp the idea of great casual fashion for men, you are going to need to be a bit more inventive with what you put on.
Goodbye jeans

Well, you don’t have to completely ditch your jeans. You can still buy jeans, just get rid of the ones that are worn out at the heels and veer away from the blue coloured ones. They can be a wee bit too…bland. Consider opting for something a bit darker. Find something that fits better. Get jeans that boast style. You will look better overall.
In addition to this, flannel trousers work well. In fact, as long as you steer away from sweatpants territory you should be fine here.
Men’s Casual Wear: Goodbye t-shirts
Let’s face it, most t-shirts you see just don’t look all that great. Not ill-fitted, short sleeve t-shirts at least – the ones you see most guys wear. Truth be told, this is more a case of a badly picked t-shirt rather than the quality of the t-shirt itself. If you wish to rock casual men’s fashion well, you are going to need something that accents your neckline better.
For some people this will be V-neck shirts. For others, you may be looking into round neck. Don’t opt for something too loose when it comes to your shirts. You want something that accents your figure properly. Consider opting for long sleeve t-shirts, they can look really great. Also, opt for something that is plain in colour. Not only will it look a whole lot better, but you will find that plain colours are far easier to match up to the rest of your clothing (EXPERT TIP). 🙂
Goodbye hoodies
Hoodies are often considered the ‘lazy person’s clothing’. People just sling them on. It appears as though they really do not care about themselves when they do. When lazing about the house on a slow Sunday morning – wear them to your heart’s content but do your best to avoid wearing hoodies outside. Collared shirts or sweaters, preferably made of cotton, are going to be far better than hoodies. If you can pull them off, you may even want to opt for cardigans.
Men’s Casual Fashion: Coats
You won’t be saying goodbye to your coats, thankfully. You don’t want to get cold after all. However, do start looking into different coats. Find something that suits your figure well. Do not opt for those big, bulky things. They will make you look huge (or tiny depending on your frame). Blazers and sport jackets are fine.
Really invest in your coats. You will be surprised at just how much you can change your overall look with a coat that has been paired well with the rest of your attire. A basic blue jeans and t-shirt combo can really be kicked up a notch with the right coat. If you are on a limited budget, opt for coats that have neutral colours. They will go well with just about everything.
There are tons of coat styles out there to choose from. These are some of the best:
- Sports jackets: They can make pretty much anything look great. Blazers too.
- Blouson: These jackets have an almost retro vibe to them. They are great for casual situations where a sports jacket is just too formal.
- Leather jackets are expensive, but incredibly cool.
- Jeans jackets: Obviously, do not wear these with jeans, at least jeans of the same colour.
- Overcoats: Come in both casual and formal varieties – they are going to keep you very warm.
Goodbye sneakers

You are going to need to ditch your sneakers – well the worn out, dirty ones anyway. Again, they are going to scream laziness. Instead, opt for something a bit better-looking. If it is the summer, you should be fine with sandals. During other times of the year, opt for canvas sneakers, maybe a good pair of leather shoes, or maybe even some desert boots.
Accessorise
As a man, it is likely you are not going to want to accessorise all that much. However, you are going to need to choose pieces which really help to ‘complete’ your outfit. Perhaps the best route to take here will be dress watches. We find that a good dress watch, either with a metal or leather band, works well for just about any situation. Try to purchase watches in a few different colours, if you can afford it. This way you will always have something which matches the style you are going for.
Honestly, dressing casual for a male is not all that difficult. As long as you veer away from the ‘lazy look’ you should be fine. Just make sure that you put a small amount of effort into choosing clothes that actually fit you properly. You will look absolutely stunning if you go down that route and you are almost certainly going to turn heads.
Are you ready to look brilliant, today?
